Media Consultant

Background: 

 CDMC  is a non-government institution established in January 2007 in Gaza and has the registration NO. 563142827, adopts the human rights-based approach to empower marginalized groups, especially women, youth and journalists to amplify their voices to draw the attention of decision-makers and duty bearers and enhance their practice of active citizenship with a vision of effective and influential Palestinian developmental media that advocates for human rights, rule of law, democracy and citizenship, so that social justice, freedom and prosperity prevail.

CDMC and EuroMed Rights are implementing the project “International accountability, promotion of human rights, and restoring the civic space in Gaza” that will provide essential support to civil society and media organisations in the Gaza Strip, enabling them to continue documenting human rights violations and bringing the testimonies of those affected by the conflict to national, regional, and global audiences. The project includes multiple activities aimed at facilitating the post-war recovery by creating an enabling environment for CSOs and media to practice freedom of expression and by encouraging greater collaboration between the two sectors. Civil society and media organisations will benefit from psychosocial support for those traumatised by the recent violations as well as safety measures that can protect them against threats, harassment, and attacks in the future.

Under this solicited we seek a Media Consultant to strengthen our media interventions and amplify our impact.

Objective of the Consultancy: 

To enhance CDMC’s media and communication efforts through the project by developing and implementing a strategic, innovative, and results-driven media plan that aligns with the project goal in strengthened protection and promotion of human rights, civil society organisations and Freedom of expression in Gaza.

 Scope of Work:  

The Media Consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:

1. Determination of current communication tools (website, social media, newsletters, etc.) that will be utilized for the project dissemination.
2. Design a comprehensive media strategy with clear objectives, target audiences, key messages, and channels (media agencies/channels and digital platforms).
3. Use new tools (like AI-driven analytics, podcasts, and video content) to reach more people and get them interested.
4. Ensure high-quality content (press releases, social media posts, videos, infographics).
5. Lead the planning and execution of project media activities (advocacy events, Pannel, media production…etc).
6. Ensure media best practices through project implementation, including content creation and social media management.
7. Submit quarterly progress reports, biannual and annual reports with actionable recommendations.

 Qualifications and Experience:

• Advanced degree in Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Journalism and media
• Proven track record in designing and executing successful media campaigns for NGOs/development projects.
• Have the ability in creative thinking, negotiation, communication and adaptability.
• Knowledge of SEO, data analytics, and AI-driven media tools.
• Languages: Fluency in English and Arabic.
